Early Days and Recognition
When Diane entered the real estate profession in 1990, she found her dream career and never looked back. This year, she received the President’s Circle Award from Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices for 2019 sales production, placing her among the top 5% of brokers in the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices global network of 50,000 brokers, an award she’s received six times. She was among the top 100 agents of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago and, in additional office awards, Diane received awards across multiple categories including Sales Leader, Most Units, Most Listings and Largest Sale, some of which she has received multiple years in a row.
Diane does not put a closing time on her business and believes in being accessible. Her clients know they can call or text her up to the last hours of the day. She believes that if something will keep them awake until they talk, that they should call her before they go to sleep. A client recently stated in a review that Diane was “ridiculously accommodating”. That client saw a home on the morning of Christmas Eve and Diane wrote the contract and negotiated the offer before Christmas Eve church service.
Hardworking, patient and kind, Diane offers so much more than simply assisting with a purchase or sale. She does pre-market prep and organization, assists with staging and even suggests paint colors that will make a home stand out in the sea of homes on the market. She develops deep personal relationships with clients and is always happy to offer a helping hand in their time of need.
Ready to serve others, Diane donates to The Sunshine Kids Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to children undergoing cancer treatment. She serves on a Community Service Team and is a former steering committee member for the SHE Ministry through her church. The Ministry supports single moms. Because her clients were packing up their homes to move, they often had many items to donate and Diane would initially find homes for beds and furniture. Beds, in particular, were in great demand and she found it to be a blessing to find homes for her clients giving away beds as well as a blessing for the receiving families that were in need. In fact, making arrangements for deliveries of gently used beds has become part of her business plan. After five years, another church member and she started the Beds in Need Ministry to help families in need.
Seasons and Storms
Diane’s personal and professional lives have not always been smooth sailing. There have been many seasons and a few storms in Diane’s personal and professional life. They have only made her stronger and more determined. She is very humble and recognizes just how quickly her business can turn. The 2009 recession, in particular, was a very tough time. Diane had to remind herself of the Robert H. Schuller quote, “Tough times never last, but tough people do.” She took on part-time and full time seasonal work to make ends meet. In 2012, as the market began to improve, she was grateful for each day, whether it was good or bad. She was thankful for every phone call that came from a referral or a client. She never gave up on her business.
Sailing and So Much More
In 2018, Diane was chosen to participate in the World Arc Cruising Rally, a once in a lifetime opportunity, where for three months, from February to April, she would crew aboard a sailboat racing around the world with 30 other boats. She boarded in the Galapagos Islands and raced to Marquesas and Tahiti islands. She wrote to her clients to let them know she’d be away for three months. They were so excited to follow the race and it refreshed her adventurous spirit. Prior to leaving, she had a surge in sales and those same sales closed while she was gone. When she returned, she didn’t miss a beat and still ended up being the top producer of the office that year!
Diane specializes in the western suburbs of Chicago. She was raised in Elmhurst, though has lived in the Illinois towns of Schaumburg, Elk Grove Village and Carbondale as well as Temple, Arizona; Silverton, Colorado and Red Hook, St. Thomas. Diane believes in continually increasing and updating her skills. She has earned the Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) and Certified Negotiating Specialist (CNS) professional designations. She does volunteer works in the Timothy Christian School Community and Church. In her free time, she enjoys family, sailing, golfing, horses, and travel.
